Music (Aural Pedagogy)

  • Graduate Certificate (#8 - one semester full time)
  • Graduate Diploma (#16- two semesters full time)
  • Master (#24 - three semesters full time)

This suite of programs offers studies in the areas of choral or orchestral conducting, aural studies and classroom pedagogy. There are options for taking a thesis course in the masters program and a practicum in choral or orchestral conducting (Masters and Grad Dip). Part time study is available in all degrees and Summer Program courses may be counted for credit towards these degrees.

Music (Instrumental Pedagogy)

  • Graduate Certificate (#8 - two semesters part time)
  • Graduate Diploma (#16- three to four semesters part time)
  • Master (#24 - three semesters full time or part time equivalent)

Students interested in instrumental or vocal pedagogy will find opportunities to take courses offering extended applications of pedagogical principles, skills and materials and learning orientations through practice teaching in workshop situations. Masters students may also choose a pedagogy practicum and a thesis. Summer Program courses may be counted for credit towards these degrees.

Music (Performance)

  • Graduate Diploma ((#8 - two to three semesters)

Performance students are encouraged and guided to reach their potential through individual lessons on their chosen instrument and the presentation of two public recitals, which will demonstrate advanced performance and performance arts skills.

Music Therapy

  • Masters (#32)

This is a two year full time program. The program is accredited with the Australian Music Therapy Association and successful completion of the program qualifies graduates to apply for registration with AMTA. Please see separate brochure.

Entry Procedures and Requirements: To apply for entry to the programs you need an undergraduate degree which demonstrates a knowledge of and ability in music or have an appropriate degree plus work experience. Deadlines are stated on the Postgraduate Coursework Application Form. Your form will be processed and you will be advised if your application has been accepted. A formal offer letter will then be sent to you in the post, detailing enrolment requirements.
