 Audition Repertoire for Bachelor of Music


Brass (baritone-euphonium, horn, trombone, trumpet, tuba.)
Your choice of three pieces of contrasting styles from three differing periods.

Piano
Your choice of three pieces of contrasting styles from different periods.

Composition
Please submit a folio of compositions to the panel when you undertake your practical audition. It is a requirement that composition applicants also audition on an instrument or voice.

Guitar (classical guitar only; not electric guitar)
Your choice of three classical pieces of contrasting styles from different periods.

Percussion
Three pieces are required. One piece on snare drum, one piece on keyboard percussion (choice of xylophone, marimba or vibraphone) and the third piece can be a choice on timpani, or a small multi-percussion set-up.
Equipment will be provided upon request. Please indicate on the audition form your percussion requirements. You are requested to bring your own sticks and mallets.

Strings (violin, viola, cello, double bass)
Your choice of three pieces of contrasting styles from different periods. You should be able to demonstrate knowledge and skill in tonal quality, rhythm, and phrasing as well as overall musical ability and accuracy. The possibility of gaining a Scholarship to the value of $2,000 in the first year of the Bachelor of Music exists through the Sleath Scholarships. Please indicate your interest in a Scholarship on the application form.

Voice
Your choice of three classical pieces of contrasting styles from different periods. Please note that blues, jazz, popular, folk, rock, etc is not acceptable for audition. You should be able to demonstrate knowledge and skill in tonal quality, rhythm, phrasing, interpretation, diction and stage presence, as well as overall musical ability and accuracy.

Woodwind (flute, oboe, clarinet, bassoon)
Your choice of three classical pieces of contrasting styles from different periods. You should be able to demonstrate tone, technical ability as well as overall musical ability and accuracy.
